Description
This program is designed for individuals with mild to severe osteoarthritis in the hip and/or knee. The health care professionals will focus on both education and exercises, to help with the diagnosis and management of osteoarthritis with a focus on remaining as active as possible.
Duration: In Person, twice a week, for 7 weeks
The first two sessions of this group will be educational: • what is osteoarthritis, risk factors and symptoms • current treatments • how to self manage your symptoms • how exercise can help • how to cope with the difficulties of daily activities
The following 12 sessions over 6 weeks are exercised based. • how to control your movements and proper posture • build muscular strength through functional exercise • how to apply these exercises to every day activities
Participant outcomes for the GLA:D program include reduced hip/knee pain, improved function and quality of life.
Entry to this program requires an assessment by one of our physiotherapists. Once you have submitted your request, you will be contacted by phone to book your appointment.
